Return from Hiatus

Return from Hiatus
Wow, it has been a long time since I have had time to come in and report.  I have been developing training materials and classes for our new administrative system and in the process, again realized how important it was for me to make sure that I keep the user in mind when I step into the session. I needed to rethink what documentation can be-clear and visual. There was thought of making the training totally online but I feel that in this type of training, there needs to be a face to face interaction to allow for questions and gauging of the person's ability to grasp the skills to navigate in the system. The technology can be there to be a resource but you can never take out the personal aspect. Just like tech support, tech training needs to have that personal aspect to encourage and inspire others to feel comfortable in the technology. Balance-yes, that's what it is...

Balance, yes, but remember people learn in different ways. Some people can learn very effectively by using online training materials whereas others really need the one on one. The goal should be to provide, whenever possible, a variety of training mediums, monitor those using them, and then make sure they know that if the method they try isn't ideal that there are other options for them. Kudos and Happy New Year!!!
